re-invented eichler in san rafael  The complete remodel of an existing Eichler house in San Rafael. New open modern kitchen was designed with two parallel 12’ long islands without upper cabinets to achieve open feel. Most of the appliances were built into the adjacent wall. The main axis of the kitchen as well as entire living area was accentuated by minimalist stainless steel hood and square edge single bowl large stainless steel sink. The old inefficient fireplace was converted with gas modern looking insert. Main entrance and front door were redesigned and accentuated by simple aluminum canopy. The adjacent garage doors were also replaced with new brushed aluminum ones. Minimalist stainless steel mail slot, linear light and simple house number emphasize simplicity of the front facade. All sliding patio doors and fixed glass were replaced with new energy saving double pane e-coated glass. Ceiling was insulated and re-wired for new track lighting. The entire floor received 12x24 porcelain tiles on top of new radiant heated subfloor in seamless flow throughout all spaces (including bathrooms as well). Finishing materials and colors (mostly variations of white) were chosen to enhance the light and open feel throughout the house. The landscaping in the backyard was also re-done to create modern japanese garden with bamboo plants, graveled and concrete paths and black stone water feature in internal patio.
