eichler in palo alto Very extensive remodel - practically a new house on a small lot in Palo Alto. The old house was one of the early models of Eichler and required major renovation. The client also needed additional space for her photographic studio as well as more space for living and storage. The garage was added instead of old carport. The redesign keep the spirit of the Eichler with same pitched roofs, but reversing them into a butterfly shape. The butterfly roof allowed to increase height and access to more natural light from different directions. There are no conventional gutters nor downspouts - the rainwater is cascading out through projecting aluminum channel into covered with pebbles drain area.
